Production Supervisor Function

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor will manage a team of people within a designated Manufacturing section. You will have direct day-to-day responsibility for the communication, workload, quality and staff performance of all activities within the designated manufacturing team.

You will also be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment, by ensuring that all health and safety regulations are strictly adhered to, and to identify areas for improvement and drive through changes to gain bottom line results.

Production Supervisor Person Specification

  • The Section Leader will be self-motivated and quality conscious.
  • PC literate (ideally Epicor & Office).
  • Confident and decisive, with good people management and communication skills.
  • Tenacity and drive to bring about improvements.
  • Sound technical knowledge of capital equipment and spares manufacture. 
  • Able to liaise with Technical and Production Engineering to improve and develop products, and able to work within cross-functional teams to achieve business results.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.

Production Supervisor Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Assist the Production Manager in implementing process change initiatives, cost reductions and achieving performance improvement targets.
  • Manage the department’s production workload, equipment utilisation, and to ensure health and safety adherence.
  • Discipline, time and attendance, and performance appraisals for all direct reports, attending or chair daily/weekly/monthly meetings and briefs, as required, in order to communicate departmental/company information.
  • Ensure safe and clean working practices are adhered to, as identified via housekeeping audits and actively reduce or eliminate ‘waste’ activities and challenge existing processes and procedures.
  • To make sure orders and resources are prioritised and communicated accordingly, reporting quality issues to continually improve product and process quality.
  • Deputise for the Production Manager and other Section Leaders, as and when required.
  • Drive and be a role model for the company values & behaviours.

Production Manager Role Summary

  • To maintain a safe working environment, by ensuring that all health and safety regulations are strictly adhered to.
  • Manage the assembly (mechanical, electrical and testing) activities of capital equipment and major spares contracts, to meet customer requirements.

PRODUCTION TIG WELDER

The Production TIG Welder will provide a high quality, efficient welding service within the production team and wider operations department. Working within a highly skilled and qualified welding team you will use a variety of jigs, fixtures, welding plant and manipulators to assemble and weld a wide range of products to exacting standards.

Production TIG Welder Person Specification:

  • Proven experience of TIG welding within high technology production / manufacturing company.
  • Experience of welder coding to EN287-1 / ASME IX and / or PED.
  • Experience in welding stainless steel to a very high standard.
  • General interest in engineering, welding, and factory production operations.
  • Good PC skills including Outlook.
  • Production experience in a small batch capital investment goods environment.

Production TIG Welder Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Carry out all required welding work, to the highest standard.
  • Acquire the knowledge and qualifications for welding the complete size / range of instruments ensuring the necessary quality standards are achieved.
  • Carry out basic assembly related work such as expanding, pressure testing, helium leakage testing as required.
  • The Production TIG Welder will assist in other production related tasks, when required by the line team leader or Production Manager as appropriate within the line or wider production department.
  • Work in accordance with Health & Safety procedures as set out by the company, especially regarding Manual handling and PPE.
  • Support customer inspection activity.
  • Maintain all welding equipment / hand tools in good working condition and keep the welding bays tidy / organised in line with company housekeeping standards.

Works Supervisor Role Overview

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Workshop Supervisor will oversee approximately 50 staff, on a double day shift, consisting of Team Leader, Operators, Laborers and Apprentices.

Candidate Requirements

  • The Works Supervisor will have proven experience of supervising or managing in an engineering / manufacturing environment.

Works Supervisor Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Maximise ‘lights out’ machining to increase Productivity and record this in TEAMS.
  • Ensure prior to the end of shift, all applicable machines are set up to run lights out, ensuring the Production Priority database is updated with the latest plans and actions which can be shared by all colleagues.
  • Explore ways of increasing Productivity with further possible unmanned or multi manning and conduct trials to reduce stock allowance for grinding which will reduce machining times. Conduct machining trials using tooling representatives and experts in the field. 
  • Monitor and review operator production efficiencies against targets and carry out any actions where targets are not met with the assistance of the Production team.   • Use ANDON boards to assist in the monitoring of Productivity and educate operators in the importance of booking accuracy.

  • The Works Supervisor will implement LEAN techniques including 6S throughout the works. Aim for continuous improvement in order to save time and money.
  • Ensure all completed work is moved onto the next operation by operators and not left in racks for others to move.
  • Regularly review and update the skills' matrix plan to Identify areas of weakness within work cells and operators to ensure we have a fully skilled and flexible workforce.
  • Attend daily factory tour and include team leaders for their input.
  • Update machine capabilities to assist in planning the production requirements.
  • Communicate plans and instructions to colleagues during shift change handover and supply daily email for reference and for others to continue with the required actions.
  • Use initiative to make decisions, challenge set plans and try out new ideas.

I am looking to recruit a Maintenance Electrician role for a leading global organisation within the Manufacturing sector. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a team to provide breakdown cover and maintain machinery and Automation equipment.

The shifts for the Maintenance Electrician role are 4 on 4 off days and nights 6-6.

MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

I am recruiting a very exciting Maintenance Engineer opportunity for a client based in Grantham. 

As a Maintenance Engineer your role will be to carry out planned maintenance across the Factory and Wastewater Treatment Plant.

You will complete PPMs and PTIs onsite whilst always ensuring that there is a proactive approach to planned maintenance.

The shift pattern for this role is an 8-week rotation and includes 12-hour shifts covering days, nights & weekends 4 on 4 off.
