Develop and improve purchasing of indirect goods and services
Negotiating the lowest costs for indirect goods and services
Identification of new suppliers for new / existing requirements
Removal of under-performing suppliers
Monitor commodity market trends
Identify cost reduction opportunities
Agree standards and KPI’s with suppliers
Requirements for Indirect Buyer
Experience of working in a busy purchasing department
To have gained your experience ideally within manufacturing
Knowledge of MRP systems
Cost and supplier negotiation skills
Thrive under pressure, the ability to work to strict deadlines

Assist Logistics with stock audits and data collection
Support Stock audits
Run out control and end of life to ensure zero obsolescence
Provide analysis of aged stock
Prepare weekly reports on stock issues
Drive cost saving initiatives
Requirements:
Relevant experience within Stock Control

The Material Planner / Buyer will be responsible for purchasing and negotiating fabrication materials from one or more vendors in support of the site strategy. This requires evaluating vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers, a familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the manufacturing procurement field.
This role relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks. The role also supports the strategic sourcing transition & implementation activities for the site.

Material Planner / Buyer Candidate Requirements
Proven procurement experience, minimum 2 – 5 years, preferably in a heavy manufacturing or an industrial environment.
Purchasing & Engineering Change experience in an MRP environment
Proficient computer skills in MS Office. (Word, Excel, Outlook), with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong ability to assess engineering drawings and proceed to RFQ based on supplier capability, strong negotiating skills, ability to multitask, prioritize work and work closely with other departments.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the procurement field.
Be able to take responsibility for resolution of issues.
You should be self-motivated, and results orientated and be able to work to time constraints & use own initiatives to solve problems.
Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)
Works with operations, planning and organizing all tasks.
The Buyer will review purchase request for material via MRP or manual purchase requisition.
Monitor purchase orders & net demand schedules to ensure required ‘need dates’ are achieved.
Must be able to develop excellent working relationship with both internal and external customers as well as suppliers.
Maintain supplier relationships in order to drive cost reductions while continually achieving the highest level of quality material.
Ability to interface with company and supplier senior management. Excellent negotiation, presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
Plan & expedite the required material to ensure availability to meet production demand whilst maintaining inventory levels to a minimum and in line with set targets.
