PROJECT ASSOCIATE (Product Delivery)

A Project Associate is required to support a number of innovation programmes involving consortiums, stake- holders and partners. The programmes are biased towards Power / Powertrain applications in Automotive and Commercial Vehicle development programmes and will often involve the support and backing of new technologies.

The main purpose of the role is to be the link between the Supply Chain, Funding Streams, Programme Managers and Consortiums to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of individual programmes in line with coast, time and logistic plans and targets.

The role will be a key player in the successful liaison and integration of all involved parties and will also be reporting source to fellow senior management colleagues if intervention is required to prevent or overcome road blocks and financial obstacles.

RESPONSIBILITES

As a Project Associate, you will

  • Liaise with internal and external departments to ensure the delivery of programme plans, through all phases of the project delivery.
  • Co-ordinate communications
  • Provide timely reports of project status and KPIs, ensuring variances are escalated to the SME & Supply Chain Manager
  • Liaise with internal departments & organisations to ensure communications and marketing of the programmes are maintained to required standards, taking due care to protect IP and confidentiality as appropriate
  • Co-ordinate project Gateway reviews and associated project output reports.
  • Monitor and confirm funding claims, against the agreed expenditure budget, by phase, for manager approval.
  • Mentor the Technology Developer(s) in all aspect of project delivery
  • Provide regular updates through the Department Manager, for the Business Development team on project opportunities
  • Develop an understanding of the core underlying capabilities required to successfully exploit the different forms of technology into other automotive sectors
  • Contribute to process development, process learning and improvement.
  • Represent the Department at Public events, as agreed and directed by the Department Manager

Requirements

  • Education to Degree level or above in Engineering and or Business Management relating to the Automotive Industry
  • Industry knowledge Powertrain, Electric Motors or Energy Management would be beneficial.
  • Experience of project management working with customer development teams on the launch of new technologies within the supply chain or OEM.
  • Interest in future technology and market trends and the ability to relate them to the UK Automotive industry and the opportunities this could create.
  • Experience of new product development cycles and the challenges for partners and the supply chain.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to handle change effectively and positively.
  • Strong knowledge and self-sufficiency in the use of MS Office suite applications.

This is an exciting role that will bring a suitable applicant into the front line of modern power application development, whilst also being involved in the Business and Commercial side of New Product Introduction as well.
