Maintenance Electrician

Shift: Days – 8am till 5pm

Location: Manchester

To maintain and repair the plant to a standard that realises maximum productivity and efficiency, and to continuously improve the skill levels of both the factory and staff assigned to you.

Maintain all aspects of the production process in terms of the electrical infrastructure (LV and HV), PLC’s (Siemens S5, S7 and TIA), Siemens HMI’s, Win CC Systems, Inverters (ABB, Siemens and SEW), Motors, PILZ safety systems and a variety of other process control equipment whilst working to the highest standards of safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in the Implementation of a robust planned Electrical maintenance system and optimise operational performance through regular planned maintenance and improvement activities. 
  • Ensure the maintenance Electricians understand their roles and responsibilities in the implementation and completion of tasks in the planned maintenance schedule.
  • Ensure the site has adequate electrical spare parts available both for planned maintenance activities and for breakdowns and that spare part purchasing is within set budgetary control.
  • Support the introduction of new products and machinery, whilst developing team knowledge and capability of new and current equipment together with the development of maintenance plans that provide for long term efficiency of the equipment.
  • To ensure that the final installation and operation of any machine or combination of machines/sub-assemblies must conform to the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations in force at the time.
  • To provide and keep the technical file in connection to any changes/modifications to the machinery.
  • To comply with the Purchasing Company Policy.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Manager in all aspects of the electrical and programming needs of the factory.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in preparation of budgetary information regarding replacement equipment and seasonal planned maintenance activities.
  • Promote quality of service and support at all times and enforce a good quality culture.
  • Promote and encourage continuous improvement (PIP Project) and use of lean manufacturing methodologies.

Skills & Experience:

  • Full EITB Electrical Apprenticeship
  • BTEC ONC & BTEC HNC Electrical Engineering
  • Siemens or 3rd Party PLC Training
  • SEW / ABB Inverter Training
  • WInCC Training / SCADA
