An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Electrical Instrumentation Technician to join a leading organisation based in the Warrington Area.


  • To maintain all of the electrical/instrumentation and weighing systems
  • The equipment is to be maintained in a safe and efficient manner so as to ensure maximum plant reliability.
  • The technician will be involved with the commissioning of new equipment and will interact with other members of the plant’s maintenance and production teams
  • Investigate faults and repair electrical/instrumentation and weighing systems.
  • Carry out planned maintenance schedules in accordance with the requirements of the planned maintenance system to minimise downtime and contribute to the achievement of production targets.
  • The inspection, maintenance and calibration of electrical/instrumentation and weighing equipment to API standards.   
  • Clear understanding of loop and schematic diagrams and able to interpret and mark-up electrical/instrumentation technical schematic drawings to as built status.
  • Able to prioritise their work load and work on their own initiative.
  • To actively participate as part of the E/I team and also a wider Plant Engineering Maintenance team.
  • To actively participate in meetings, reliability studies and RCAs to assist in making improvements.
  • Proactively identify and progress minor improvement projects.
  • Liaising with suppliers of electrical/instrumentation equipment to ensure the correct specification and procurement of spares.
  • Adhere to SHE principles, demonstrating commitment to safety through language, willingness to learn, behaviour and actions, complying with safety practices and committed to zero tolerance of unsafe acts.
  • Fully familiar with the permit to work system and isolation procedures and carry out isolations of Electrical and instrument circuits
  • Motivated and eager to contribute to continuous improvement both at a personal and team level.
  • Good verbal, written and problem solving skills and able to prepare technical reports, procedures and able to plan work
  • Good IT skills, building on existing proficiency and developing competence in the Company's systems
  • Part of the E/I Technician on call rota and weekend end duty cover. May be required to work extra hours as required by business.
  • The E/I technician will be expected to work across all areas of the site


  • The job holder will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a range of instrument , electrical and control engineering roles within industry
  • Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent training scheme, supplemented by training
  • HNC in Control/Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent and/ or relevant
  • 16/17th edition levels 1 (Level 2 desirable)
  • Excellent understanding of all process plants and control loops. Able to diagnose faults on PLC /DCS /SCADA systems.
  • The E/I Technician will be expected to become conversant with the company standards concerning isolations, modifications and electrical/instrumentation and weighing systems.
